How to Play Video Poker
Video poker is done through computer and controlled systems or slot machines. Many players consider this type of gambling more efficient than the physical one because the possible combinations can be known, the frequency of the combinations can be calculated and the playing strategy can be devised. The first thing that you should know is to know the basics. As a player, you should know first the combinations that can make you a winner. These combinations are:
- Royal Flush: Ace, King, Queen, Jack and 10 from same suits
- Straight Flush: Five consecutive cards from the same suit or all or cubs
- Four of a kind: Cards with the same rank
- Full house: Three cards of one rank and two cards of another rank
- Flush: Five cards from the same suit (not consecutive)
- Straight: Five consecutive cards from different suits
- Two pair: Two cards of one rank and two cards of another rank
- Pair of jacks or better: two jacks
After knowing the combinations that can make you take home a lot of money, the first thing that you have to do when faced in front the video casino machine is to look at the video screen wherein the images of cards are dealt. There is no physical money involved in the game since they are in the form of credits displayed in the video screen. But, you can cash out these credits whenever you want.
Found below the screen is the console that includes bill validator. Most of the time there are buttons on the left that has the label "Cash Out" and "Buy One Credit". Found in the center are five buttons as representation of the cards being dealt and to the right are two buttons labeled as "Deal or Draw" and "Bet Max".
The actual game only begins when the player pushes the bet and deal buttons. Majority of the machines in video casino accept five coins or credits at a time. But if the player press Bet Max, the machine will only deduct five credits and deal the hand. After placing the bet, five cards are seen on the screen and you have the options to keep or disregard any of the cards. When you want to hold the cards, you hit the "Hold or Cancel" button that corresponds to the card that you are holding. You may cancel the decision you made by pressing again the same button.
After you made all the hold decisions, you push the "Deal or Draw" button. Cards that are not held will be discarded and new cards will take their places on your hand. These five cards are the final hand. The machine will do the calculation if the player is winner and if the player won, the corresponding amount of credits will be added to the meter.
